A beardie is a
dog of almost over-powering friendliness, extremely active, and boisterous. He is truly a
gift from the past with his endearing qualities and timeless beauty. They have an
enthusiasm for life that is contagious - they
make you laugh not because they are intentionally clowning but because they are just
having fun - and they laugh with you.
Bearded collies are extremely intelligent dogs - not merely
trainable dogs, but dogs that love solving problems. They are delighted to put their
brains to work to figure things out - especially if they can make you laugh (and it allows
them to get away with mischief!)
Our wee pup was born January 28, 1998 Pickering Ontario;
Champion breeder Sharon Dunsmsuir of Kincurran Bearded Collies of Pickering Ontario bred
Elvis whose mother is Canadian Champion Pinewood Devil in Disguise (Devlin) and father is
American Champion, International Champion, Canadian Champion Breakseas Gone West (Dylan).
Elvis' grandfather on his father's
side is English Champion Potterdale Conclusion (Charlie) and on his mother's side is Canadian Champion, American
Champion Best in Show, Best in Specialty Show and "Top Canadian Dog" Potterdale Double Image (Burton) -
however we love him for who he is - he is our "Top Play Pup".
Elvis has been a continual source of love and fun since coming
into our lives on April 1, 1998. His
favorite times are walking along Lynn Creek or the Headwaters, playing with our nieces
Jenny, Danene and Darianne, or herding (with
his cousin collie dog, Cody) all the ducks and heron on Birch Bay (and
thats a really big job for one dog!). Elvis also enjoys his weekdays spent at
Launderdog Day Care where he loves playing with his friends, both canine and human, who
have been wonderful to Elvis. Elvis even
appeared on VTV Breakfast with Launderdog - he loves those guys! Elvis is now training in agility with James and
jumps with glee over anything and everything (well almost) given to him. He is our most
special pal and best friend and we found the attached poem, which reflects our true
feelings for him.
